The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Accountant to support the financial and accounting activities of our Geneva office.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating order, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day financial administration of a growing international non-profit organization. The Accountant will work closely with IDA leadership and relevant colleagues to ensure that financial information is properly recorded, documented and readily available for reporting and decision-making.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for IDA's Geneva operations.
Record and categorize income, expenditure, invoices and other financial transactions.
Process and track invoices, payments, reimbursements and supporting documentation.
Perform regular bank and account reconciliations.
Maintain an organized filing system for invoices, receipts, contracts and financial documentation.
Support preparation of monthly and periodic financial reports.
Assist with budget monitoring and provide information on actual expenditure against approved budgets.
Support financial administration related to suppliers, consultants and other service providers.
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks and other relevant providers when required.
Support preparation of documentation required for year-end accounts, audits and statutory reporting.
Help establish and improve practical accounting procedures and internal controls for the Geneva office.
Work collaboratively with HR, administration, leadership and other IDA teams on finance-related matters.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For
Education and/or practical experience in accounting, finance, business administration or a related area.
Previous accounting or financial administration experience; experience with an NGO, association, non-profit or international organization is an advantage.
Knowledge of the Swiss/Geneva accounting environment is highly desirable.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial information.
Ability to maintain clear and complete financial records and documentation.
Good working knowledge of Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets and Drive; experience with accounting software is an advantage.
Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately in both formal and informal professional settings.
Strong sense of responsibility, discretion and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
Client- and service-oriented approach.
Availability to contribute approximately 15 hours per week.
