Airborne & Respiratory Pathogens Committee

The Airborne & Respiratory Pathogens Committee addresses the evolving landscape of respiratory and aerosol-transmitted infectious diseases. Expanding beyond traditional respiratory infections, this committee takes a transmission-based approach to encompass viral, bacterial, and fungal threats—such as tuberculosis, COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and airborne fungal infections.
With a focus on pandemic preparedness, health system resilience, and health equity, the committee works to:

  • Strengthen early detection, surveillance, and response to airborne threats

  • Support evidence-based infection prevention and control (IPC) strategies

  • Promote innovation in diagnostics, ventilation, and vaccine delivery

  • Advance interdisciplinary dialogue across clinical, public health, and environmental sectors

The committee serves as a collaborative space for members to explore integrated responses to respiratory threats in both epidemic and endemic contexts.
