Pandemic Preparedness & Healthcare Emergency Committee

The Pandemic Preparedness & Healthcare Emergency Committee serves as a hub for anticipating, preparing for, and responding to high-threat infectious disease outbreaks. By merging the scopes of emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) and healthcare emergencies, this committee promotes a continuum approach—from early detection to long-term recovery.

Focus areas include:

  •  Horizon scanning and surveillance of high-impact pathogens

  •  Health systems resilience and emergency preparedness planning

  •  Strategic coordination with global actors such as WHO, Africa CDC, and CEPI

  •  Joint policy recommendations and knowledge sharing across crises

The committee leads efforts to ensure that IDA members are not only prepared for the next pandemic—but are active shapers of equitable, effective responses.
