The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is seeking a strategic and committed Fundraising Lead (Intern/Volunteer) to support the development and execution of our fundraising strategy. This senior-level volunteer role will play a pivotal part in securing the resources needed to sustain and grow IDA’s impact in global health policy, research, and advocacy.
The Lead will work closely with the fundraising team, supporting to cultivate donor relationships, lead proposal development and explore innovative resource mobilisation approaches. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute leadership and expertise in advancing global health, while gaining visibility and connections in international policy and donor networks.
Responsibilities
Support the design and implementation of IDA’s fundraising strategy.
Identify, cultivate, and engage potential donors, including foundations, institutional partners and private sector actors.
Mentor and collaborate with fundraising associates, interns, and volunteers to strengthen the team’s capacity.
Lead or support the drafting and review of grant proposals, concept notes and donor reports.
Assign tasks to team members and support them from from project initiation through proposal submission.
Help team members improve skills like communication, pitching, donor engagement, and proposal writing.
Track donations, campaign performance, and deadlines to make sure the team stays on target.
Encourage team members to solve problems and maintain high morale!
Requirements
Key Competencies
Strategic Leadership: Ability to contribute to shaping fundraising strategy and vision.
Donor Engagement: Proven skills in cultivating and maintaining strong donor relationships.
Communication Skills: Strong grant writing, presentation, and donor communication abilities.
Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
Cultural Sensitivity: Commitment to working inclusively with a diverse international team.
Educational Background
Master Degree in international relations, public health, business administration, or related fields (preferred but not required).
Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development.
Demonstrated success in securing grants or contributions from institutional donors, foundations, or philanthropic partners.
Familiarity with global health, international development, or related fields is an advantage.
Experience mentoring or leading junior staff/volunteers is desirable.
