About the job
Our website is our main public face. It needs to look good, work well, and stay up to date.
We are looking for a Web Design Coordinator to lead a small group of web designers. You will not do all the design work yourself. Your job is to plan the work, share it out, follow it up, and make sure it gets done well and on time.
You need to understand the technical side well enough to talk with designers and developers as an equal. You should be able to explain what is needed, agree how it will be built, and check the quality of what comes back.
Responsibilities
Lead the web team
• Coordinate a group of volunteer web designers.
• Assign clear tasks to each person, with a clear deadline.
• Hold a short team call each week.
• Support new team members and help them settle in.
• Give feedback on their work, and flag good work to HR.
Manage the projects
• Build a simple work plan for the website, with priorities and dates.
• Track progress and keep one shared task list.
• Spot delays early and find a way around them.
• Report progress to your manager once a month.
• Collect requests from other IDA teams and turn them into clear tasks.
Keep the website strong
• Make sure the site is fast, safe, and easy to use.
• Check that pages work well on mobile phones.
• Keep the design in line with the IDA visual identity.
• Keep content fresh and correct, with the Communications team.
• Watch basic site data (visits, drop-offs) and suggest fixes.
• Support new pages and sections when teams ask for them.
Requirements
Essential
• Proven experience coordinating or managing a team, or a set of projects.
• Strong planning and follow-up skills. You keep track of many small tasks without losing any.
• Good technical understanding of web design and web development. You can discuss the work, split it into tasks, and judge the result.
• Practical knowledge of a content management system (for example WordPress) and of UX and responsive design.
• Clear, kind communication in English, in writing and on calls.
• Able to work on your own, in a remote team, across time zones.
Nice to have
• Experience with volunteer or student teams.
• Basic HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
• Knowledge of SEO, web accessibility, or site analytics.
• Experience with tools such as Figma, Trello, Asana, or similar.
• Interest in global health or non-profit work.
