About the job
The Business & Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role in strengthening the Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) and the Infectious Disease Policy Journal (IDPJ) by leading business development, marketing, and brand visibility strategies. This cross-functional role will work closely with the Partnerships & Committees, Membership, Fundraising, and Communications teams to drive growth, expand engagement, and diversify revenue streams.
This position is ideal for a strategic and creative professional with expertise in marketing, stakeholder engagement, and business development who wants to have a meaningful impact on a global health organization.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Revenue Growth
Lead strategies to increase paid organizational memberships in IDA.
Identify and pursue sponsorship, partnership, and service-based revenue opportunities.
Support diversification of income streams, including event sponsorship packages, advertising in IDPJ, and fee-based services such as training or consulting.
Marketing & Brand Positioning
Develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns for IDA initiatives, IDPJ publications, events, and coalitions.
Ensure brand consistency and compelling messaging across all channels, including the website, newsletters, social media, and events.
Oversee design and dissemination of promotional materials (print and digital).
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Work with the Partnerships & Committees team to package and promote coalition activities.
Collaborate with the Membership department to refine value propositions and retention strategies.
Support the Fundraising team with donor-focused communications and marketing materials.
Partner with the Communications team to boost audience reach and engagement.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
Conduct competitor and market analysis to inform IDA’s positioning and growth opportunities.
Track and report on marketing KPIs and business development outcomes.
Identify trends in global health, publishing, and NGO networks to inform campaigns.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or related field (Master’s degree an asset).
5+ years’ experience in marketing, business development, or revenue growth in a nonprofit, NGO, or publishing context.
Demonstrated success in membership growth, sponsorship acquisition, or brand expansion.
Skills:
Strong strategic thinking, project management, and communication skills.
Proficiency in digital marketing tools (e.g., Google Analytics, LinkedIn Ads, SEO, Mailchimp).
Experience in partnership development and negotiation.
Ability to produce engaging written and visual content.
