The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is offering a dynamic internship/volunteer position that blends strategic communications, digital media, and administrative coordination. This is a flexible opportunity to grow your portfolio while contributing to impactful initiatives in infectious disease advocacy, policy, and health systems strengthening. As a member of our core team, you’ll support a range of internal and external-facing activities, from social media campaigns and event promotion to committee support and digital content development. Final responsibilities will be tailored to your skills and interests following onboarding.
Responsibilities
Draft and schedule content for social media, such as graphics, videos, text posts on LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube
Create visual and written materials using Canva and Google Workspace
Assist in promoting events, webinars, newsletters, and publications
Maintain organized files, mailing lists, and shared folders
Help coordinate internal communications and respond to inquiries
Provide general administrative support to teams and committees
Track engagement analytics and suggest improvements
Support digital outreach for the Infectious Disease Policy Journal (IDPJ)
Requirements
Education & Experience:
Background in public/global health, communications, journalism, admin, media, marketing, or related fields
Prior experience with social media, content creation, or admin tasks is a plus
Experience in nonprofit or international settings is welcome but not required
Skills:
Strong communication skills (written & visual)
Organized, self-directed, and responsive
Proficient with tools like Google Drive, Slack, Canva, and scheduling platforms
Interest in infectious disease, health equity, or science communication
Values:
Commitment to equity, global collaboration, and evidence-based practice
Willingness to learn and contribute to a distributed, multicultural team
