About the job

How would you like to shape the visual identity of a global health advocacy organization? How would you like to design materials that end up on the agendas at transnational health forums? And how would you like to do it for a young, rising NGO with soaring ambitions?

If your answer to the questions above is a resounding yes, then we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for a dedicated, ambitious volunteer to be the creative force behind how IDA looks and feels in the world.

You'll join the communications team where you will be responsible for developing and applying IDA's visual identity across social media, reports, presentations, event materials, and everything in between. To succeed in this role, you'll work closely with a social media manager, a videographer, and a medical journal editor. Good design is a team conversation, so you won't be working in a vacuum.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining IDA's visual identity and brand guidelines

  • Designing social media graphics, infographics, and campaign assets

  • Creating presentation decks, reports, and event materials

  • Supporting the communications team with ad hoc design needs

  • Ensuring visual consistency across all IDA's channels and outputs

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Canva - our design tool of choice

  • A sharp eye for typography, layout, and color

  • The ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling visuals

  • An interest in human issues

  • Maybe you're a seasoned professional, maybe fresh out of design school. What matters most is your energy, your thirst for knowledge, and of course your love of a well-placed visual.

What we offer

Real-world experience: Gain hands-on experience shaping the visual identity of a global health advocacy organization from the ground up.

Networking: IDA is a global network of incredible people with big ideals and even bigger hearts. It's good company that you don't want to miss.

Skill development: This role comes with real responsibility and a real opportunity to make a difference. The design choices you make today will define how the world sees IDA into the future. Growth opportunities guaranteed.

Mentorship and exposure: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary communications team and engage with professionals in global health, policy, and nonprofit work.

Flexibility: Remote-friendly role with a flexible structure designed to balance impact with your availability.

Impact: Take ownership of IDA's visual presence and directly contribute to raising awareness and influencing global health conversations.

Ahhh, yes. Let's address the elephant in the room: This is a volunteer position, so why should you apply? Well, global resources for preventing and treating infectious diseases are unevenly distributed, to put it mildly. This imbalance has catastrophic consequences for hundreds of millions of people in the world's poorer regions. IDA is determined to change this.
