About the Role
The Infectious Disease Policy Journal (IDPJ), a flagship initiative of the Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA), is seeking a motivated Partnerships and Communications Officer to strengthen the journal’s collaborations, visibility, and global engagement.
IDPJ is an interdisciplinary, open-access journal dedicated to the policy, social, and structural dimensions of infectious diseases worldwide. The Partnerships and Communications Lead will support the journal’s outreach strategy, build relationships with academic institutions and global health organizations, and help communicate the journal’s research and policy insights to broader audiences.
This role will play a key part in expanding IDPJ’s network of collaborators and ensuring its work reaches policymakers, researchers, and public health practitioners worldwide.
Responsibilities
Partnership Development
• Identify and engage potential academic, institutional, and
organizational partners for IDA’s journal initiatives.
• Support the development of collaborations with universities, research
institutes, and global health organizations.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing partners.
Communications & Outreach
• Support communication strategies to increase the visibility and reach of
IDA’s journal publications.
• Assist with outreach campaigns to attract authors, reviewers, and
contributors.
• Coordinate announcements related to calls for papers, publications,
and journal initiatives.
Content Promotion
• Work with the communications team to promote journal content through
social media, newsletters, and external networks.
• Assist in preparing communication materials, briefs, and promotional
content.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Represent the journal in selected meetings, webinars, or collaborative
initiatives.
• Facilitate connections between the editorial board, researchers, and
partner institutions.
Strategic Support
• Provide ideas and recommendations to strengthen the journal’s
partnerships, reputation, and outreach strategy.
• Contribute to the long-term development and positioning of IDA’s journal
within the global health research community
Requirements
Education & Experience
Currently pursuing or recently completed a graduate degree in public health, communications, international relations, journalism, or a related field.
1–2 years of relevant experience in communications, outreach, partnerships, student organizations, NGOs, or volunteer initiatives (including internships or project-based roles).
Demonstrated interest in global health, infectious diseases, or science communication.
Experience supporting events, campaigns, publications, or partnerships is an advantage.
Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to assist with partnership outreach, stakeholder engagement, and coordination.
Basic editing, proofreading, and content development skills.
Familiarity with social media platforms, newsletters, or simple website/content management tools is a plus.
Ability to work collaboratively with multicultural and interdisciplinary teams.
