About the job

How would you like to help millions of people all over the world gain access to critical vaccines? How would you like to shape infectious disease policy and make decision-makers adopt a One Health mindset? And how would you like to lead social media communications for a young, rising NGO?

If your answer to the questions above is a resounding yes, then we’d love to hear from you. We’re looking for a dedicated, ambitious volunteer to trumpet the IDA gospel across social media platforms.

You’ll join the communications team where you will be responsible for developing and populating LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky, Facebook, and possibly X (let’s talk first). To succeed in this role, you’ll work closely with the other team members incl. a graphic designer, a videographer, and a medical journal editor. We know social media content can be a mouthful, so you won’t be alone.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing a strategy for our social media comms

  • Leading content creation for all our social media platforms

  • Producing posts

  • Writing copy

  • Replying to comments and engaging in conversations

  • Monitoring traffic

  • Providing recommendations on how to grow followers and engagement

  • You get bonus points if you also know how to edit photos and video.

Requirements

  • Driver’s license for all major social media vehicles

  • Stellar copywriting skills

  • A solid understanding of aesthetics, visual identity, and an eye for detail

  • A knack for connecting with people and juggling interests

  • An interest in human issues

  • Maybe you’re a seasoned professional, maybe fresh out of uni. What matters most is your energy, your thirst for knowledge, and of course your love of social media.

What we offer

Real-World Experience: Gain hands-on experience leading social media strategy and execution at the Infectious Disease Alliance, a global organization focused on infectious disease advocacy and health systems strengthening.

Networking: IDA is a global network of incredible people with big ideals and even bigger hearts. It’s good company that you don’t want to miss.

Skill Development: Build practical skills in content creation, digital strategy, analytics, and audience engagement across multiple platforms. This role comes with real responsibility and a real opportunity to make a difference. You will own our social media, so the decisions you make today will shape our social media presence into the future. Growth opportunities guaranteed.

Mentorship & Exposure: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and engage with professionals in global health, communications and nonprofit work.

Flexibility: Remote-friendly role with a flexible structure designed to balance impact with your availability.

Impact: Take ownership of IDA’s social media and directly contribute to raising awareness and influencing global health conversations.

How to Apply

Submit your CV and a short cover letter via the “Apply Now” button below. In your cover letter, tell us why you're interested in this role and how your background aligns with the responsibilities.

Sounds interesting? We think so, too.

And yes, let’s address the elephant in the room: This is a volunteer position, so why should you apply? Well, global resources for preventing and treating infectious diseases are unevenly distributed, to put it mildly. This imbalance has catastrophic consequences for hundreds of millions of people in the world’s poorer regions. IDA is determined to change this.
