Vaccine-Preventable Diseases

Strengthening civil society voices on immunisation policy, vaccine equity, and community trust to ensure no one is left unprotected.

The VPD Committee is IDA's advocacy platform for immunisation equity and policy. We coordinate civil society engagement at WHO, GAVI, and CEPI - developing joint positions on vaccine access, immunisation system strengthening, and outbreak preparedness. Our members span research, clinical practice, community advocacy, and policy, ensuring diverse perspectives shape global immunisation decisions.

Equitable Vaccine Access

Advocate for fair distribution of vaccines across income groups and geographies, prioritising LMICs and marginalised populations.

Policy Advocacy

Shape WHO, GAVI, and national immunisation policies through evidence-based civil society input and coordinated positions.

Immunisation System Strengthening

Support countries in building resilient routine immunisation infrastructure including cold chain, last-mile delivery, and health worker training.

Outbreak Prevention

Coordinate rapid civil society response to vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks including measles, polio, and meningitis.

Vaccine Confidence

Address hesitancy through community engagement, evidence-based communication, and trust-building with affected populations.

Lifelong Immunisation

Promote vaccination across the life course — from infant immunisation to adult and elderly vaccination programmes.
